Abstract

The article introduces a background about the history of science fiction from those times before Christ until our days; in addition, it presents the technological advances based on the development of the nanotechnology, its origins, its measure units, its benefits, its dangers for humanity, and some of the scientific institutions that work on the topic around the world. It invites to think of a different kind of science fiction benefic for humanity. It shows the way Colombia has advanced in scientific research, according to reports given by Colciencias, and offers some suggestions on how this new society should get prepared to face future developments.
