Abstract

This article seeks to answer the question of whether or not child abuse is traumatic. To do so, the article relies on Sigmund Freud's and Jacques Lacan's psychoanalytic theories and on interviews with children under protection. In addition, the article assesses how mistreatment is defined under the Infancy and Adolescence Code and contrasts this evaluation with the psychoanalytical findings.
