Abstract

The article exposes the different conceptualizations of development through history, to understand why a multiplicity of dimensions, currents, approaches and postures have beenwoven in its name, and presents how it is going from the economic conception to a more human idea , from which ideassuch as Elizalde and Hopenhayn arise, who propose that development refers to people and not to objects orthat of Touraine, who affirmsthat developmentmust conformto the particularities of each society. It is concluded here that although the development perspective has not always been humanistic, it has been related to democracy, freedom, peace, economic and social security and human rights.
