It is certain that the competitions have become, in the last five year period, in one of the key topics of the Colombian educational system. For this reason, it corresponds the academics to meditate and to understand the meaning, the sense and the purposes that these have in the education. Keeping in mind that this term comes from the productive activity (work market), it is very probable that educational politics’s makers from the new focus of the labor education conceive the competition concept in the reduced mark of the productive necessities: to develop abilities in the thought students more for the future acting of occupations and specific positions.
Therefore, the intention of this short escrtito is the one of contributing, in some measure, to the debate and reflection around the advantages and disadvantages of the formation based on competitions, starting from the conceptual developments that are derived of different theoretical postures and focus, one of those which is exactly the one that thinks about in the Pedagogic Proposal of the U. C. P. R: « is the essential thing the information or the formation? This question of initially theoretical character is related with the formulations about the terms education, formation and teaching. From the modern perspectives the education cannot go in the sense of the mere information about the knowledge obtained by the man, but of facilitating the development of competitions, the inference processes and understanding of the world starting from the information and of the ethical and human formation.
