Language as a superior function, result of the process of phylogenetic evolution, has been studied since long time ago by different disciplines such as philosophy and psychology. However, nowadays thanks to the advance of the neurosciences, the biological foundations of the language have been known. The present article aims to introduce some reflections about the relations between the brain and the language, taking into account the field of neurosciences. Some evolutionary and genetic aspects of language are revised; evidences about the domain of the left brain hemisphere for its functioning and functional neuroimages in the study of the brain processing of the words are presented. The difference among the voice, the speaking skill and the language is also shown, apart of the existence of three functional brain systems for the processing of the words. Finally the concept of meaningful cascade as the key impact that the words have produced about the access to knowledge in the human being and the invention of writing as a way to give security and stability to the knowledge representation system through the words.
