Abstract

This paper presents the results of the research project "State, Development and Perspectives of the HighSpeed Regional Academic Networks (HSRAN)," carried out at the Research Center of the Universidad Católica Popular de Risaralda. The article is divided into three parts. The first describes the origins, rationale and methodology of the research project. The second part presents the results obtained from the collected empirical data. Finally, the third section proposes a model for the development of e-science in Colombia, under which social actors and advanced technological infrastructure provided by the academic networks are integrated and turn into transformative elements of Colombia's scientific reality and socio-economic development.
