Reflections from the Family

Abstract

This article intends to reflect the concept of family by culture as a unique and idealized category and the necessary transition in recognition of their diversity; to do this, identifies some aspects throughout the history of Colombia showing the imagery of family. It shows the family diversity throughout the history of Colombia beyond of the imagination of the nuclear family, and points out the need for the recognition of family diversity as a starting point in the consideration of public policies. Good part of the reflections that were raised in the article arises from the investigations research line in family and community development that from the Family Center at the Catholic University of Pereira, are being developed in this field.
