Abstract

The dis-mucilage is a machine that was presented by a research group of the National University in Medellín, for the sugar cane sector. This article accounts of an intervention for the redesign of the dismucilage prototype, for the improvement of their different areas and with the purpose of achieving a global quality machine. The text describes the enhancements in the transportation form, the mode of use, industrial safety, the mechanism, the protection, communication and the formal aspectaesthetics. It concludes that the role of an industrial designer in an engineering project provides functional aspects, of form and aesthetics, which make the product more acceptable and successful.
