Abstract

The environmental crisis was internationally legitimized by the Stockholm Summit in 1972. Before that Summit a set of scientific approaches suggest the need to put limits on economic growth based on the uncontrollably use of nature. After the Summit, the idea of economic growth becomes the engine to eliminate poverty and to achieve environmental objectives. In this sense, an overview of orthodox perceptions is outlined about environmental crisis management, with ideas that suggest that economic growth is the only one who can solve this crisis. Given this, another vision is proposed: the holistic understanding of life, in which its authors set a different way of interpreting the environmental crisis
