Abstract

This paper provides the main findings of a trends’ study in communication. It was evolved within the frame of a disciplinary trends’ study by the Academic Vice-rectory at the Catholic University of Pereira. It is involved in the strategic plan of the University ‘Serving to the Truth’ such as vital project: ‘Formation, Pedagogy and Curriculum’. This study analyzes theoretical and practical trends within the communication field; which were found after a documentary and literature review in academic journals and repositories in organizations and institutions linked to communication area and to high education in the national and IberoAmerican context. It explains how flexibility and transdisciplinary are the main particular features within the communication field in the both the theoretical approach and the disciplinary practice.
