The social doctrine of the church and social market economy: an approach from the economic dimension

Abstract

This article presents an outline of what could be considered an implicit approach of the Social Market Economy to the basics of the Social Doctrine of the Church, from conventional economic thought, in order to sustain a capitalist proposal socioeconomic order with more human face and ethically solid roots, alternative that has had practical experience of sixty years in continental Europe and other countries in Latin America. In the center of the discussion, acerbic criticism both capitalism and socialism that has been proffered, tacitly, in some papal encyclicals in favor of the social market economy we are analyzed; for example, Caritas in Veritate.
