Resumen

En este artículo se hace una revisión del concepto de “responsabilidad social” en cadenas de suministro como una evolución del concepto tradicional de responsabilidad social empresarial, que resulta inadecuado para explicar completamente la responsabilidad social en el contexto globalizado de los negocios modernos. Inicialmente, se mencionan las principales teorías y enfoques usados para el estudio de la responsabilidad social empresarial y, luego, se desarrolla el concepto de responsabilidad social de cadenas de suministro mostrando las perspectivas de diferentes autores; igualmente, se muestran los aportes más significativos a la investigación en el tema en la última década. Finalmente, se mencionan los aspectos más relevantes a considerar en el diseño e implementación de políticas de responsabilidad social a lo largo de toda la cadena de suministro de cualquier organización.
